For decades, Community
Healthlink, Inc. has proven itself a valuable resource for thousands of
men, women, children and families whose lives have been disrupted by
mental illness, addiction, homelessness, poverty, and numerous forms of
trauma.
Here are just a few
examples of the people we’ve helped and the issues to which we’ve
responded.
- A 12 year-old girl was unable to continue
attending elementary school because of emotional outbursts.
Thankfully, Community
Healthlink, Inc.’s “Burncoat Family Center” is able to help dozens of
children and families each year so children can reintegrate with their
peers and overcome issues that might otherwise continue into adulthood.
- A 46 year-old man who has been homeless
and living in a shelter suffers from an illness that causes an
infection of the bone. He is told his leg may need to be amputated
below the knee.
Thankfully, Community
Healthlink, Inc.’s “Medical Respite” program is able provide temporary
care for this man and intervenes to arrange his admission to a local
rest home. The amputation is averted.
- A few years ago nearly 90 two-and
three-year-olds were expelled from local childcare centers due to
disruptive behavior.
Thankfully, “Together
For Kids”, a collaboration between Community Healthlink, Inc. and
numerous other local agencies, offers a solution for children, teachers
and parents that helps to drop the expulsion rate to zero. Child care
staff can now focus on teaching youngsters rather than correcting
inappropriate behaviors.
Community Healthlink,
Inc. has long been committed to delivering services that impact our
neighbors and our communities. Throughout our history we have been
about helping people and families to rebuild their lives and about
keeping our communities and our neighborhoods strong and
vibrant. It is a responsibility we accept with pride.
Sincerely,
Deborah Ekstrom
